Kappa Delta Walk/Run (Held every March): The Kappa Delta Alumnae Association of St. Louis holds the "Shamrock Shuffle" event to raise funds for the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Eighty percent of the proceeds from this event are donated to fund SSDN's work to prevent family violence, child abuse and neglect. Champions for Children: Every year we celebrate and support the children we serve through our annual Spring Gala. The 2008's Champions for Children awards event honored the Deaconess Foundation's Dr. Theresa Mayberry and the Healthy Kids Express program for exemplary support to children. The event helps us fund all of the things economically disadvantaged children deserve: degreed teachers, professional development opportunities, new curriculum materials, mental health and disabilities consultants, field trips and family events. In addition to preparing children for school success, these funds will facilitate priceless opportunities to assure our children's families' long-term economic stability through education, job training and/or work.
In addition to presentation of awards, the event features dinner, an auction and dancing. You can participate by purchasing individual tickets, sponsoring a table, placing a program advertisement, or contributing gift certificates/items to be auctioned. Pete Donahue Memorial Golf Classic (June 2008): Every year the Sunday Morning Rugby Club and their corporate friends host an annual golf classic to raise funds for children in need.
